Article of The Day: Sony NEX-7

Assalamualaikum and good morning to all Mirul Photography blog readers.

Today I want to write an article about the new Sony NEX-7 which is the high-end model in NEX family. Let's take a look at the camera first.

NEX-7 featured with 24.3 Megapixel APS-C and it was the same sensor as new Sony DSLT (a65 and a77), 10 fps continuous shooting (same as Nikon 1), the EVF (which the only NEX model that have EVF, neither NEX-3 nor NEX-5 have it), Dual dial button (to adjust Aperture Value and Shutter Speed), build-in Alpha Hotshoe for flash, ISO100-16000, and of course the FullHD Video 1080p!

What about the price? You can get it at retail store at $1,199.99 (amazon.com, body only) which is around RM3,815.00 at Malaysia!! Wow what an expensive compact body! What about the lens? Sony offers their new line of E-Mount lens the 24mm Zeiss f/1.8 at $999.99 (amazon.com). You can also use the old standard lens from NEX-3 and NEX-5 (the 18-55 zoom lens, 16mm pancake f/2.8, and 55-210 telephoto)..

Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 E-Mount
As a conclusion, this camera is quite perfect for journalist who didn't want to carry their heavy gears during outstation since most journalist used to traveled either with the 2.8 lenses (16-50, 24-70, 28-70, 70-200, 80-200, 200mm and more) or all around lens (18-200, 18-250, 28-300, 24-200) which is very heavy to bring together! Overall this camera just perfect for journalist that only wants to shoot landscape pictures, wide shot of actions and more since the E-mount does not offers the f/2.8 telephoto lenses...

That's all for my review. It's depends on what the photographers loves at.. A compact interchangeable camera or the DSLR for travel. The conclusion is only my opinion about it's sizes and weight. Those conclusion are not to argue those journalist who carries a lot of stuffs during outstation since I also bring the DSLR everywhere I go even it is heavy. Thanks for reading. Enjoy!

Stay tuned for more updates!

Article of The Day: Nikon launched their new mirrorless camera, Nikon 1

Assalamualaikum and good evening to all Mirul Photography blog readers today..

I just read an articles that Nikon launched their new mirror-less camera. Could it be better than other mirrorless camera especially Oly Pen EP-3 or Pana Lumix or Sony NEX? Let's take a look at the camera first...

Nikon 1 J1

Nikon 1 V1

So the J1 is the entry level which doesn't have the EVF and the V1 is currently the high-end model of Nikon 1 with flash hotshoe and EVF... V1 does have 10fps continuous shots same as Alpha SLT. So the NEX, Pen and Lumix lost at the continuous shot speed. What about the Manual settings? Does this camera provide it? If yes, could it be better than other brands? I still didn't have an answer for that.. Maybe I can explained it if I have a chance to test both camera... Huhu..

As a conclusion, Nikon offers a good compact mirror-less interchangeable lenses camera with a lots of lens from pancake 10mm 2.8 to 10-100mm 4.5-5.6... That's the pro, the cons is the sensor is too small which is 2.7x crop factor (10mm is equivalent to 27mm) and the 10-100mm looks to bulky for this cute camera.. I still recommend to use either NEX or Lumix as a semi-professional compact camera since you have a lot of choice choosing lenses from Leica, Summilux, Contax, Zeiss, M42 and much more ...!

That's all for today.. Thanks for reading. Enjoy! Stay tuned  for more updates!
